Club for Diabetes Excellence, Chennai Hosts C.O.D.E. 2.0, Conference on Diabetes Evolution

Chennai, September 6, 2026: Club for Diabetes Excellence (C.O.D.E.), Chennai — India’s first integrated club for people with diabetes — organised C.O.D.E. 2.0 (Conference on Diabetes Evolution 2.0) in Chennai today, bringing together leading diabetologists, physicians, researchers and healthcare professionals to discuss the rapidly evolving landscape of diabetes care. Held under the theme “Transforming Diabetes Care through Innovation, Integration & Impact,” the conference focused on equipping clinicians with contemporary knowledge and practical insights to address the changing challenges of diabetes management.
Around 750 doctors and healthcare experts attended the conference. It commenced with the theme talk “Diabetes 2030–2050: From Control to Cure,” which explored the future trajectory of care and the shift from conventional disease management towards more proactive, personalised and technology-driven approaches. Dr Vijay Viswanathan, Head & Chief Diabetologist of M.V. Hospital for Diabetes, delivered a talk titled “Saving the Foot Before It Fails: Early Signals, Smart Screening & Preventive Strategies.” He also launched a book ‘We’re not Alone’ written by Mrs Maulika who has a close, personal understanding of everyday reality of Type 1 Diabetes with an intention to comfort and provide reassurance to the children living with T1D. The book is published by Tambaram Medical Foundation.
The scientific programme featured discussions on current guidelines and the future of clinical practice, the new era of insulin therapy, obesity and metabolic health, gestational diabetes, diabetic foot care, polyvasculopathy, Type 1 diabetes, and emerging therapeutic approaches. Technology and innovation emerged as key themes, with dedicated sessions examining the growing role of Artificial Intelligence in clinical decision-making, digital care and Continuous Glucose Monitoring (CGM) — and how connected, predictive technologies can support more personalised management.
Speaking at C.O.D.E. 2.0, Dr Ashwin Karuppan, Founder & Chairman, Club for Diabetes Excellence (C.O.D.E.), said, “Diabetes care cannot succeed in isolation. The conference was organised under the guidance of Padma Shri Dr V. Mohan, Chief Patron; Padma Shri Dr Shashank R. Joshi, Organising Chairman; Dr Banshi Saboo, Organising Secretary; and Dr Ashwin Karuppan and Dr Aafrin Shabbir, along with the advisory board, faculty and participating healthcare professionals.
