
McDermott Launches Renewable Energy and Safe Drinking Water Project in Chennai Schools



Chennai, January 9, 2026: In a meaningful step towards sustainability and student well-being, McDermott India Private Limited has inaugurated a CSR initiative equipping three government schools in Chennai with solar energy systems and RO-based safe drinking water facilities.
The inauguration ceremony, held on January 9, was graced by Mr. Maruthappan Alagappan, Senior Director, who underscored the collective responsibility of building sustainable educational ecosystems.
Senior McDermott leaders—including Mr. Manish Agarwal, Ms. Anupriya Dohre, Ms. Aparna Suresh, Ms. Sheeba Daniel, Mr. Krishnan Venkatasubramanian, and Mr. Asokan Baranidharan—joined the event, reflecting the company’s strong commitment to impactful CSR programs.
The initiative was executed in partnership with Delhi-based NGO Third Planet Foundation (TPF), represented by Mr. Jatin Dhall, Mr. Arun Kumar, Mr. Nixon, and Ms. Divya, whose expertise ensured effective implementation and measurable impact.
By reducing reliance on conventional power sources and ensuring continuous access to clean water, the project directly supports student health, hygiene, and uninterrupted learning. The event also featured cultural performances, student testimonials, and prize distribution, adding vibrancy and showcasing the positive change across Chennai’s school communities.
